Dear Independent Workers
It is and never will be ethical practice for you to randomly message your clients for ANY reason whatsoever! That is the quickest way for you to not only loose them but also tarnish your reputation and self respect within the industry. No matter how tough things become trying to make it on your own within a saturated industry it should never bring you to the point of randomly messaging your clients asking them to book you. It portrays desperation and that in itself is not flattering. Before being driven by monetary gain stop for a second and consider the fact that he may have a spouse or significant other that may have access to his phone and your message could very well be the start of a trigger that destroys an otherwise happy or comfortable union. Be respectful of your client's time, privacy and family life. 90% of our clientele are either married or in relationships and they make use of the industry to switch off and break away from day to day life with a no strings attached requirement, afford them that and allow them to feel safe knowing that when they return homebound the day's activities are behind them. If again he wants to book you he will reach out to you, it shouldn't be the other way around, neither should a client feel stressed that his masseuse is going to hound him after hours an now feels tense about leaving his phone lying around just incase the messenger isn't a friend....this on it's own leads to questions from a significant other if it starts being something out of the ordinary and WHY on earth would you want to place your client in that predicament?
THINGS NEVER TO ASK YOUR CLIENT FOR OUT OF YOUR OWN ACCORD:
None of the above is okay in my opinion. If a client affords you the gesture and it comes from him that's a different story and you can either accept or decline but it should never be requested or become an expectation on your part. Learn to monitor and manage your income better in order to become self sufficient and you will never have to ask anyone for anything let alone your clients who essentially is already contributing to your livelihood. Respect is earned by what you action and not through self-gratification. Appreciate, respect and value your clients and in turn they will do the same.
Love, light, safety and blessings.
Setting yourself up as an entrepreneur takes discipline and professionalism if you want to earn respect and be appreciated for the service you provide. Just because it's an intimate service does not mean it cannot receive the same amount of appreciation and respect as the next service provider in other industries. It doesn't matter to what extend or how deep you dive into this industry you have to set boundaries. Always remember you will be treated in the manner in which you conduct yourself and clients only have the power to treat you as far as you allow.
At times it will be easy to loose your cool when confronted with clients who are less than desirable in the manner in which they approach you with their communication, remain professional, have one tone, one voice and politely and sternly advise what you do and do not offer and steer them away holding your professionalism intact. It might not be what the person on the other end expected and in some instances could very well gain you a client due to your professionalism because had you matched his tone of voice in the manner he approached you, that would be the end whereas turning it around could end the end benefit both.
Always be open to constructive criticism and don't take offence and allow emotion to get in the way. We learn and grow everyday, you cannot only be open to hearing the positive about the manner in which you deliver your service, if you are not open to hearing how you can improve on someone's experience from start being his scheduling process to finish being his exit process how will you grow as an entrepreneur in this business or grow a client base that comes to you for the reasons that count?
Love, light, safety and blessings.
Hellooooo Independent Workers!
My name is Mechelle Liedeman, known to formerly own two of Cape Town's well loved massage facilities namely Rejuvenation Studio and most recent Mi-amore' Sensual Boutique. Over my 9 year journey within the massage industry I have learnt valuable insight as an entrepreneur and as such adapted a business approach to set myself and my facilities apart. Based on the caliber of person I am and the insight I gained, I believe I earned the trust and respect of many clients and hopefully some staff that has come through my employment as well. I have learnt to appreciate that my high standard for the industry and no nonsense approach to the work place applied to my business environment has not always met with favor from my staff however, I trust now that they have taken the next step into being self-employed they will come to appreciate the high standard and discipline in which I steered. With this blog I aim to offer valuable insight to your growth and motivate you on your journey as an independent masseuse because I believe applying the right qualities can set you apart from an ever increasing and saturated industry.
Love, light, safety and blessings
